Kite landboarding (aka: Landboarding/Land-kiting/Powerkiting) is the new kid on the block when it comes to kite sports and it is making kiting expand into other regions and terrains! It follows the same principles as kitesurfing (using a kite and a board) but you do it on land with a mountain board under your feet. Landboarding is a rapidly growing sport with a number of clubs and competitions springing up all over the country.
Our one day landboarding course is a comprehensive course that will teach you the kite and board skills necessary to become very comfortable with a kite and onto a board to begin cruising around with control confidence. Although we train on land or “the hard earth”, don’t stress… our lessons take place on large low cut spongy grass parks. Our certified veteran instructors will guide you to practice properly – so you always feel comfortable and in control.
You will start your day with a short safety briefing before being familiarized with the equipment – land board, kite, harness etc. Then it’s time to have some fun! You will learn to fly and control traction kites which will get you used to the power that the kites generate. Once your kite skills are developed it is time to get you onto the board to enjoy your first runs.
The minimum age is 14. There is no specific requirements regarding maximum size but you will need to fit into a harness, please check with us when booking if you have concerns regarding this. If you have a particular medical condition that you think may affect your ability to do the course, please check with the us when booking.
The course will last 4-5 hours over the course of a day.
What to Wear / Equipment
All kiting specific equipment will be supplied – this includes kite, board, harness. You must bring a suitable helmet and clothes that you don’t mind getting a potential grass stain or two.
